We, the Montreal Book Buddies, started as a reading group in 1997 for book lovers to get together to discuss new and favorite books and to host students, teachers and authors of literature at our meetings and retreats.  We meet twice a month: once for short works, including poetry, and once for novels and non-fiction.

Over the years, we have enjoyed the participation of many members.  A strong nucleus has now developed, which keeps us as a solid entity.   We number 14 as of September, 2009.

One of our favorite activities is to attend the series of Books & Breakfast events held every autumn at a downtown Montreal hotel.  Blue Metropolis has also featured high on the list of literary events.  Our very special club happening is our annual weekend retreat where our lit teacher guides us through the classics.  We surely wouldn’t be attempting these works without his much-appreciated help.  There is never a worry about sustenance as we all bring our favorite recipes and thoroughly enjoy fabulous dining.
